Early hike on a Saturday

Gary usually works on Saturdays and I wake up while he gets ready for work but I usually go right back to sleep.  This time, I wanted to get started early and got out of bed at seven and yelled for Megan to get ready too.  We were out of the house and on the road by 8:14!  And off we were for our weekly weekend visit to see our dogs at Christopher's house and walk all of our asses off.

Pooka was up already and we grabbed her, too and we headed to a park up the hill from the house.  I've been there before with the kids to play in the playground but never went into the woods.  This time we walked up further (after picking up a couple piles of dog doodoo on the way) and discovered some great trails under trees downhill and around with a flowing creek.  What a find!

It was a fresh morning with a bit of a drizzle and the ground a bit muddy and slick from all the rain.  We all loved it.  Huzaberg kept on exploring but poor Koda, we had to keep her on leash being the escape artist that she is.  I was in no mood to look for a dog in the middle of a hilly forest.  Walking uphill was the most I was gonna do that day.  Whew!

Peace, oh give me peace.

Kids are asleep, I'm on the computer tapping away while listening to Tori Amos' new album, and Gary's on the couch reading his new kitesurfing magazine.

"Do you really love me, Hon?"

He peaked out from the pages of his magazine to look at me, smiled, and said, "That's some funny shit."

LIFE IS GOOD...

Surfing Day!

Dscn5484

Had  a great time surfing today!  Went out with the whole family and Jason, my friend and coworker.  Gary just got a wetsuit (he got himself one after I gave him two kitesurfing lessons as a gift for his birthday 2 weeks ago) but didn't have a surfboard.  So I called up my old friend Jeff and he was able to hook him up with a shortboard.  Megan wanted to surf, too, so I lent her my board and suit after I'd gone out.  I then took my turn watching Pooka on shore.

Megan, Jason , and Gary going out.

As soon as those three went out, it started to rain VERY, VERY HARD.  It was one of those sudden things.  Good thing I had a huge towel with me to use as a makeshift umbrella.  It was great!  Pooka got a bit scared though because the rain was coming down like pellets on the towel.  She thought it was pretty amusing after she saw I was liking it.

This here shows the little space of heaven we had for five minutes as we were squating in the sand under the towel during the rain.  The towel was quite wet after that! haha!

No Valentine's I said!

I've warned Gary that I don't do Valentine's!  I don't know why, I just don't.  I think I thought it was  a big deal when I was in high school but hell, that was half a lifetime ago...

Anyway, he said, "Not this year.  This year you will like it!"

So he got me these flowers, but they are, after all, tulips - my favorite.  Even though they're screaming Valentine's-day-RED!!

And surprise, surprise...that's NOT a vase!  THAT'S A FULL BOTTLE OF HPNOTIQ!  Oh, yum, yum, yum.  I may celebrate Valentine's Day this year after all..

How the fuck does this happen?

Just cruising our way back home from the city on Divisadero when we see this.  WOW.  You can think up of all kinds of questions:

What was he thinking?

Where the hell did he come from?

Was anyone hanging out at the bus stop???

crazy.

I don't get this...

How are lamps and knives related???  While repairing lamps, can you be sharpening knives on one end?
