New blog!
I'm trying out this new blog platform from Six Apart - VOX! Same company as TypePad. This one's more fun, I think. See you there! :)

Sleep was the plan...
All I wanted to do yesterday afternoon after work was shower, watch movies and go to bed early. I got to the shower part but that was it for me. Not to happen.
To start off, I received a call from an officer in Hayward leaving me a message that my 2 dogs, who stay with Christopher (Pooka's dad), were involved in some dog "attack". In my panic, I lost the message when I immediately called Christopher to find out what had happened. He had no clue but did say he thinks the dogs were loose last Friday. Great.
As soon as I got home I tracked down the officer who'd called me by searching for numbers on the internet, being connected a couple more times, then put on hold forever. I got tired of waiting so I asked Gary to hold the phone when he accidentally HANGS IT UP! while loading laundry. Arrgghhh!!!! So we had to start all.over.again. Finally, we figured out who it was that called me but now we had to wait for them to call me back.
When my cell phone rang a few minutes later, I thought it was the officer, but no, it was Christopher calling to let me know that Pooka slammed the kitchen door on her finger and the tip of it got cut off. Fuckin' A.
"How the hell did it happen?"
"I dunno, I was upstairs. I just heard her screaming and she came running up and showed me her finger."
"Ew. Where was Megan?"
"In the bathroom. She came out when she heard Pooka screaming."
"What are you doing now?"
"Staying calm!"
"No, I mean about the finger!"
Ah, geez...Gary and I immediately drove to Kaiser hospital in Hayward and there we saw The Finger Tip.
Nasty, nasty, nasty. But had to *smile* in front of Pooka so as not to freak her out. Gary stayed in the waiting room while I stayed with Christopher and the kids.
He was totally freaking out as soon as I got there. I guess all this time he'd been keeping his composure for the kids' sake but now that I was there, he was free to go to his car and break down. poor mister man. I was teasing him after, but I truly think that if it weren't for Megan, he would've fallen to pieces earlier. It was Megan who distracted Pooka the whole time by talking to her and holding her finger. Megan, as always, the Unseen Hero (per Gary).
Besides all the nastiness and blood, her finger was fine. We had discussed whether we sew the little piece back on or not which really was a debate on whether we wanted to put Pooka through more needle sticks and stitches or not. How about NOT. So we left the little piece behind in its little plastic bottle sitting in a pan of ice chips and we went home with this: 99.99% of our daughter, as Christopher said.
